Key Lime for Shavuot
Yes, it is time to dance again at Mt. Sinai and receive the Torah.. Many foods are included in the wondrous holiday. Cheese for one and good food to nourish our body and soul. Very important to feel good, and to be in tune with what is around us. I am passing on the cheesecake, need something much lighter. Really just important to keep in mind our Torah and the reading.
Tonight having a Key Lime Pie, dessert first! Chinese Chicken Salad with Peanut Dressing and along with that comes a delectable green salad made from Butter Lettuce and mushrooms and fresh tomatoes.
MS has taught me about apps on my phone, you can actually use them!!! One app that is very interesting for foodies is the “What’s on my Food?” of course it is a apple app, but if you even consider organic, get it, free. Organic carrots on the salad too!
Key Lime Pie
1 graham cracker crust pressed into pie pan
3 egg yolks beaten till light in color
1 can of sweetened condensed milk, not the low fat version either
1/2 cup of Key LIme juice, fresh approx about 25 limes
2 tsp of grated lime zest
When eggs yolks are light in color from beating, add milk keep beating on med speed. Then add your juice and keep beating, then zest. Semi- whipped Pour into prepared crust. Bake for 12 minutes in a 350 oven, till set. Get very cold and top with whipped cream. Not cool whip. I use stabilized whipped cream for pies and cakes.
